‘Installation Art’ is a very broad term for an art movement as it can come in many different forms. However most people would consider an Installation artwork to be three dimensional and in a public place.
Some Installation artworks are made specifically for a certain place or site. These artworks often take in features such as the local environment, culture, and factors such as lighting. An example of a site specific artwork is ‘Grow your Own’, which is also known as ‘The Green Cactus’, which is located in the Perth CBD and created by James Angus. These artworks are typically permanent however they can be temporary. Installation artworks can also be temporary and are removed once the exhibition or art event is finished. An example of this is Nele Azevedo’s artwork which is commonly reffered to as ‘melting men.’ Azevedo’s artwork has been installed in many different locations since the year 2005. |
